judging Does The Fear Of Being Judged Stop You From Action?

Do you know what keeps you from taking that action you know will lead you to success? Are you fearful that what others have to say about what you are doing is keeping you from reaching your dreams? Does the fear of being judged by others stop you from action? This is a big hurdle to get over!

It can be done with a new belief system starting within yourself. When you can change the way you believe that what you are doing is in total alignment with your passion and purpose, nothing else matters. No one, no thing, nothing matters except for the fact that you believe in yourself and the steps that need to be taken to get you to your ultimate destiny!

I used stop dead in my tracks when a great idea would come into my head just because I was afraid to express it to others because of the fear of comdemnation. No wonder I never got anywhere and remained STUCK in my circumstances.I needed approval from others before I had the courage the take action on my own thoughts, WHAT A WASTE OF MY CREATIVITY AND INTUITION. Dammit, now I realize I could be so much more authentic and don’t give a damn about what anybody has to say about me, my ideas, my thoughts…forget it, it’s about my life and my purpose!

If you too suffer from this fear of being judged, I offer you this resolution. Imagine yourself laying on your death bed and looking back at your life, ask yourself these questions. What could I have done in my life that would have made a difference in the world but I was to afraid to do it because other people wouldn’t have liked me? How could I have loved my family and friends more but I was afraid to show my emotions in front of other people? Did I do my best to become my best self in this life so that I mattered and people love me for that?

From this day forward, take a chance, go with your inner knowing and take action that you feel is right for you! It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks of you. For that matter, no one is really thinking about you anyway, so just go ahead and DO IT! Live your dreams out with passion and purpose, and at the end of the day, you will know that your life’s destiny has been fullfilled!

This post is right on with my life right now. I only recently realized how empowering it is to not worry about what others think and stand up and do what you want your life to be. It scared the crap out of me, but I did it and loved it.

The power comes from within you. It’s a decision to love life.

Thank you for another great post,

Ignoring them anyway. Just focus on your dreams. Because in our lives, we will always have people who will have doubt in our capabilities, we will always have negative people, and if we listen to them, we will never pursue our dreams.

Sounds like great advice Eldridge. I spent nearly a decade in direct sales so I met a lot of new entrepreneurs (mostly women) who really suffered from a fear of being rejected. One thing that worked very well was a success journal. I had each new representative begin loggin every single accomplishment in a day – completed a training session, spoke to 3 people about their business, learned about a new product … it didn’t take long before they had a record they could look back on to show how much they were growing.

Great post, Eldridge! You are so right about the need to get over your fear of being judged. One of the things that I remind myself is that a lot of people who judge are people who would rather sit on the sideline and say how things don’t work than cheer people on or build their own path. If they aren’t serious about getting things done, why should you worry if they don’t like it when you try to?

Judgement is a big fear some people carry and it starts with themselves first, then others! Like looking in the mirror!

    Hi Eldridge,

I guess I’m one of the lucky ones that has escaped this challenge. I don’t have fear of being judged by others. One of my fears is the fear of failure. But it isn’t that I’ll be judged. It’s because I’ll judge myself.

But I’m working on it every day and I’m determined to move forward. Thanks for such a great post. I know it will help a lot of people.

    Hey Debbie,

Yes the fear of failure is judging yourself! Do you know why you judge yourself? If you can become aware of when and where that first started, you will be able to change that programming! Let me know if I can assist you in anyway!

    Thank you

For some reason some people seem to get joy sucking the life, hopes, and dreams from others. You’re totally right – you have to ignore these people. I use as measure of whether to go forward or not whether I have a sense of peace about the idea. Honestly, I’ve had some ideas or ideas have been presented to me and I’ll get a almost queasy feeling. I’ve learned – through trying to plug ahead in those things anyway that this doesn’t work. If I want to be successful, I’ve got to take a minute and see what “sits right” with me and then move forward when it does. Even if other people ridicule it. I’ve explained it to people like – you don’t eat beets but maybe Joe likes beets. Are you going to ridicule him? If something is right for you and isn’t hurting other people, than go for it with gusto! – Rob

Man you do not know how much I can relate to this post, that was me a couple years ago. I did not see it that way I blamed it on being safe and not rocking the boat, being grown and stable so why cause ripples. The truth was I was scared out of my mind. I realize that in hidesight. I cannot began to tell you how many times it felt like my chest was going to explode with anxiety/excitement in the last couple years. At first it was scary, but now it is like being a kid again to have those feeling about doing something. Yes being afraid of being judge will keep some one down, but once they get pass that, their is no limit. I will be back TTYL
