Believe it or not, your success and your beliefs about money may be something that you learned from childhood and is now keeping you broke.
Most of your negative thinking about money in your subconscious mind stems mostly from what you were taught by your parents. Do you remember hearing things like …”What do you think, money grows on trees?” or “Money is the root of all evil” or “You have to work hard in order to be successful”. All these statements leave an impression or money blueprint about our beliefs on how money is to be accumulated, or not!
If you start to examine what type of money blueprint you have in your life, then you can make a decision on whether you remain the same or if you want something different. I assume that if you are broke, you’d probably want to re-assess why you are having money problems.
There are six types of money personalities that you may fit. Let me share them with you now and see where you fit:
1) Don’t Care About Money – People in this category tend to live paycheck to paycheck. This doesn’t mean that you will be poor if you fit into this category, actually you may earn a very nice wage. The problem is you don’t manage your money well and your paycheck is already probably spent before payday. You’re quick to rush out and spend your money on material goods and charging purchases on credit cards on money you don’t have sinking yourself into more debt.
2) You Think Money Is Bad – For people who think money is bad, they will probably earn a lower wage and is likely to spend it right away. Almost like they are allergic to it! This is the worst attitude to have an you are probably in the “lower class” and receive financial aid from the government because of your beliefs about money.
3) You Think Money Is Everything – People who fall into this category usually earn alot, spend alot, and have a reasonable savings account. These people like to splurge on expensive things which signal their high status to other people. This is usually the upper-middle class.
4) You Think Money Is Money – If you are here in this category, you may or may not earn alot of money. You will manage your money well and save up for future use. Overall this person tends to be financially comfortable and usually makes up the middle class.
5) You Are A ”Tight Ass” - You hold on to your money very tightly. You probably buy alot of second handed items and purchase very low cost items. The “Tight Ass” can be someone who earns a low salary and doesn’t want to spend his or her hard earned money, or it can be a rich person who was bought up to believe that money shouldn’t be wasted on on luxury items not essential to their existence here on earth.
6) You Are A Giver – The Giver usually gives away a certain percentage of their money and manages the rest very wisely. They will purchase the essential items first, and what is left over can be purchased on luxury items if that person so chooses. They are also usually good savers putting away a certain percentage on a monthly basis. You will also find the rich givers to give large amounts of money to charities and foundations.
So, what are your money beliefs?
It is important that you become aware of habits with money. Becoming aware is the first step in understanding how money works and how it affects you.
If your attitude is negative towards money, it is more likely your life and lifestyle will suffer because of your negativity.
However, if you keep a positive attitude, you can ensure your life today and in the future is comfortable and secure!
When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change!

Hmmmm, I like your analogies here Eldridge.
I am more in-between a couple of these and working myself up to being openly abundant about money – realizing that it is nothing more than a tool which is a by-product of following my dream! I’ll get there,
Val

Hey Dwayne,
Thank you for your comment. People don’t take issue on how they view, handle, and attract or distract the money in their life. This needs to be talked about more because of the beliefs about money people carry over from their childhood.
thank again

Thank you Eldridge for pointing this out. It IS a very serious aspect of setting goals. Money is just a tool. In visualizing what I want, I never think in terms of money, because it could limit what I really need. What do I need? Well, I have a list of that. What is my true motivation? That is to have enough to be giving to my favorite organization. Enough to make a difference in the world for those who need it. That is my Goal, just another footprint in the sand.
(I hope this doesn’t sound like a miss America speech…tee hee) But when we think in terms of money, we must realize it is just a tool. Don’t think amounts, because you may need more –
Blessings,
Donna Merrill

Hey Donna,
Yes you are correct about setting goals but more importantly is how money is valued and viewed in our lives.
Thank you for your comment

Hello Kaye,
I know that a very large percentage of the community doesn’t know how their thoughts from their past control their life now.
Thank you for commenting.

Hi Eldridge, this is a great post. I like Harv Ecker’s ideas for spending and saving, where a certain percentage of your earnings goes to different things.

Well Thank you Enomfon,
I think that is wonderful you teach this because more people need to understand why they aren’t attracting money into their life. But rather they are blocking from their limited beliefs of money.
Thank you

Thank you Wendy,
Many of our parents had good intentions when we were children, but unfortunately many of the messages we received from them have held us back from our true potential.

I think money is a problem for all of us, when we start seeing it as energy–and ourselves as the creators of everything in our lives, it gets better.

Hey Suzanne,
I don’t think money is a problem for people, but their mindset may be the problem. There are plenty of people with no money and are the happiest people in the world. It’s all about mindset!

Attracting money has been a hot topic for many. In simple terms – you receive what you project. If you have constant financial problems – chances are you have subconscious mind blockages that attract what you don’t want.
